200km brevet Saturday May 14

posted May 10, 2011, 4:40 PM by Mark Beaver
Hi all, this weekend we have our second of three scheduled 200km brevet rides this spring.  This ride is entitled, "Kennetcook - South
Maitland", and will assemble at Graham's Grove Park for an 8AM departure time.

As with all brevets, pre-registration is mandatory as the ride organizer has to prepare brevet cards for each participant.  Please let me know by Friday morning if you plan to attend.  Riders must be club members to participate - if you haven't joined this year, bring along your membership application form with you.  (see "Resources")

If you are interested in earning a medal for this ride, please bring along $15 with you to the start.

A brevet is a timed ride with checkpoints along the way.  Riders will carry a checkpoint card with them and will present the card at each checkpoint to an unsuspecting clerk to have the time of day verified and the person's initials recorded on the card.  Upon completion of the brevet, the card needs to be submitted to me so that I can transmit the finishing time to the Audax Club Parisien in France for "homologation" or recording.  You will get your card back at the end of the season.

Lights will not be mandatory on this ride as the distance is less than 300km - but for the longer brevets, front and rear lights and reflective clothing will be mandatory, so make your plans accordingly if you plan to try the longer rides this year.  If you want some advice, please feel free to ask me about this.

Please advise me of your intention to participate in this brevet.  Bonne chance!
